PVD Boundaries Project is a collective action to walk the perimeter of Providence. It is a perambulation of the city’s geographical edge: a Providence fringe walk for the Providence Fringe Festival! Check out our new website that shares our trek and invites walkers to explore the city’s edges. Where is the line between public access and private property? How do your personal boundaries limit your movement around the city? What path will you take? At FRINGEPVD, we are hosting two small-group, in-person walks on July 22 (7pm-8:30pm) and July 25 (10am-11:30am). Visit walkpvd.org/boundaries for links to sign up. ABOUT THE ARTIST PVD Boundaries Project launched in early May 2020, during the peak of the COVID-19 outbreak in Rhode Island. Over a series of socially distant treks, a group of walkers attempted to trace the city’s borders on foot, completing the circuit by late June. Additional phases of the project may include public walks, performances, story-telling, historical investigation, mapping, and sound/video capture. PVD Boundaries Project is an initiative of WalkPVD, which celebrates & advocates for walkable communities in Providence. Project organizers include C.J. Opperthauser, Traci Picard, and Sarah Zurier. We are grateful to friends and family who joined us on our first circuit. |
