Topsy Turvy
Presented by Cathy Taister SHOWTIMES Friday 8/3 at 7pm L Studio at the WaterFire Arts Center 475 Valley St. Providence, RI 02908 SHOW DESCRIPTION
Topsy Turvy is a contemporary story mash-up. The piece is a one-woman mixed media show (well sort of). Topsy Turvy features the power house, Cathy Taister as the live performer and few others on video. Part dance and part drama, this piece explores the subtle ways our culture is manipulating society. The show opens with a grown-up Alice Liddell burning the mid night oil. While trying to write a business plan for her non-profit, she slips into a dream world. Join the adventure, as Alice romps through various classic tales such as The Wizard of Oz, Snow White, Pandora’s Box and more. Apparently, Alice’s sub-conscious thinks she should learn some lessons from children’s stories about our device driven age. In order to become woke, Alice is sent on a quest to find Sir Lancelot’s ring of dispel. Families are welcome, but this sassy fairytale contains no fairies (although there may be a unicorn).
