Three Rivulets (2024) is immersive, textural, and mysterious: a live solo audiovisual performance by Kristina Warren. Constructed using a variety of slow-moving oscillators, with three primary ones at its core, Three Rivulets morphs through a wide range of interlocking visual/sonic resonances. The evolving geometric textures of the piece suggest cyclical ways of listening, while its dynamic audio modulations reflect mobile visual attention. Three Rivulets combines abstract forms and recognizable patterns that are sure to leave you entranced! ABOUT THE ARTIST Kristina Warren is a sound artist and performer based on Narragansett land, also known as Providence. In solo and collaborative projects alike, Warren believes that collective listening is a precious and political act. Warren’s “ASMR drone” style of work has been described as “precise and unpredictable” (Marc Masters) and “fascinating and gritty” (Jeremy Shatan), with pieces presented internationally at venues including Espace des arts sans frontières [FR], Espacios Sonoros [AR], Radiophrenia [UK], and MuseumsQuartier [AT]. Currently a MacColl Johnson Fellow, Warren was previously Visiting Assistant Professor at Brown, and holds a PhD in electronic music composition. |
