DESCRIPTION OF PIECE

Finding the funny in foreign policy. In this solo storytelling romp, Jo-Anne Hart uses her real experiences (including being taken for a prostitute) in settings including the end days of the Soviet Union; dining with the President of Iran; and landing on an aircraft carrier at sea to brief US naval leaders – to show us the laugh-out-loud backstage of missteps, insecurities, and costuming disasters. Come cringe, howl, and gape at these confessions from a hard-working travel whore.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jo-Anne has performed her nonfiction pieces in New England, Sweden, and Norway. She was a Grand Slam Winner at the Ko Festival of Radical Performance in Amherst, and at the 2024 PVD Fringe Festival her storytelling performance was voted Audience Favorite One-Person Show as well as Audience Favorite Love Story. She has a Ph.D in Political Science and her MFA in Creative Nonfiction. A longtime professor, Jo-Anne has spent her career in international peacebuilding work - where she can always find the humor.
